What is Planet Plus?
Teams of hand-picked students with invaluable interest, underwent intensive bootcamp sessions to fulfill their assigned roles (Data Science, Game Development, Game Design, Product Management) were responsible for the success of this project in conjunction between Korean Red Cross, The Promise and Xprtis, from June 2022 to October 2022.
Planet Plus’s “Survive on Earth” disaster response board game is designed to help educate and alleviate disasters caused by natural climate crises and to learn how to regain psychological stability upon suffering said traumatic events.
- The game UI was additionally released in English to minimize language barriers for application being released into foreign countries. In order to make the most of the board game characteristics, the game was developed in 3D using Unity Engine.
- Data Collection by the Data Science team was conducted to further process data using NLP (natural language processing).
- The "Surviving on Earth" board game will be used as educational materials at 20 different regional children's centers in Seoul from November 2022, starting with Geumcheon-gu Geumcheon Gifted Regional Children's Center on September 25, 2022.

Deliverables
Data Science Team
Objective
The team worked on the filtering; classification of the question set used in the game.
To give customized information based on targeted users, the team worked on providing relevant information according to user demographics. In order to provide customized information on various natural disasters depending on the user's geographical location.
The current website has the disadvantage of allowing only one-way communication from the institute to local teachers. Hence, it is hard to communicate with teachers.
Game Dev.
Objective
The objective of the game development team was to implement the back-end features of the digitized board game and guarantee that all game mechanics function properly.
The game development team believed that: as we reside in the 3D space, it is our tendency to be much more deeply involved in a 3D virtual environment, and hence we expect the 3D features of the digitized board game to improve both visual and aural engagement within the players, leading to a more effective learning experience.
Also, by digitizing the board game, we are making the game available to every individual, regardless of ethnicity, location, or age.
Game Design Team
Objective
The game design team had to first learn how to work from provided concept art, and to organize ideas before execution and production.
Upon learning how to use Blender, created basic meshes to generate flat surface assets: Buildings and props and organic assets such as trees and rocks. And how to utilize reference inside of the blender to assist in 3D modeling.
The team had to constantly adapt to changes during development, and continuingly derive ideas based on the original design from the Red Cross Original Game design.
PM
Objective
The Product managing team planned and managed the overall project workflow within the specific time frame and provided all the necessary resources for every other team member in their respective teams.
This team also contributed in terms of database design & the organization of data appropriate to each database model by using technologies and tools such as an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD).
This team was also responsible for writing out use cases, and in the management/ organizing of the team's tasks through sprints. Meanwhile, holding effective communication levels with clients to understand their needs and manage expectations.
